Airbus Helicopters H135 crash near Avalon, California, USA

A REACH Air Medical Services Airbus H135 medical helicopter crashed into the waters off Catalina Island near Avalon, California, shortly after takeoff at approximately 7:55 p.m. on Wednesday, killing the pilot and a nurse, injuring two others, and leaving a patient being airlifted to the mainland still missing. Search and rescue teams from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard scoured more than 130 square nautical miles of ocean and located the wreckage under 218 feet of water while continuing to search for the missing woman.
