Summary

A Pakistan Army Mi-17 helicopter crashed into the Koh-e-Bhaingra hills approximately 65km from Mansehra in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while flying from Rawalpindi to Gilgit. The helicopter was carrying a medical evacuation team including three doctors, paramedics, and relief supplies to evacuate a critically injured soldier. All 12 on board were killed, including five army majors (two pilots and three doctors). The crash was attributed to bad weather over the mountainous terrain. The helicopter caught fire on impact and the wreckage burned for hours in the remote hillside location. It was the second fatal Pakistan Army helicopter crash in three months, following the May 2015 Naltar Valley crash that killed seven including two foreign ambassadors.
