Eurocopter AS350B3 Ecureuil crash near Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal

An Everjets AS350B3 returning from a fire at Valença sank while landing downwind in gusty conditions at Lapa, Refoios de Cima. The tail rotor struck the ground, the helicopter began to spin and it crashed on a local road, coming to rest on its left side on a hillside. Two of the six on board, the pilot and five firefighters, suffered minor injuries. Investigators pointed to an unplanned approach without proper risk assessment, pilot fatigue, high temperatures and gusty mountain winds.
