Summary
Two Eurocopter EC130 B4 helicopters operated by Sea World Helicopters collided mid-air at about 130 feet above the Sea World theme park helipad on the Gold Coast. VH-XH9 was arriving while VH-XKQ was departing. After the collision, the pilot of VH-XH9 managed to land the damaged aircraft on a sandbar. Five passengers were injured. The ATSB investigation found a missed radio call and outdated ground crew clearance contributed to the collision.
