Eurocopter AS350B3e crash near near Chaien, Joshimath, Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India

The helicopter left Badrinath at about 13:14 carrying pilgrims to Dehradun. Last contact was near the Army post on Hathi Pahad, opposite Joshimath, and smoke was later seen rising near Chaien village in Chamoli district. All six aboard were killed: the pilot, Captain Himanshu Sabharwal, and five passengers. The weather in the area was deteriorating, with snowfall and heavy fog reported. No cause has been published. The aggregator spells the location Chayee where local reporting gives Chaien. Coordinates are approximate to Joshimath.
