Eurocopter EC145 crash near Verrieres, France

A Securite Civile Eurocopter EC145 (F-ZBQC), operating as Dragon 63, was conducting a descent training exercise at the Sancy Massif near Verrieres, Saint-Nectaire, Puy-de-Dome. During the exercise, the hoist cable failed, causing a SAMU emergency doctor and a firefighter to fall to their deaths onto the rocky terrain below. The helicopter itself was undamaged and the two remaining crew on board were uninjured. An investigation was opened into the cable failure.
