Airbus Helicopters H125 crash near near Tanes, Caso, Asturias, Spain

Summary

The H125 was firefighting when its underslung water bucket struck electrical wires above the Tanes reservoir. The helicopter destabilised and one main rotor blade struck the tail boom, which broke near the tail rotor and was left hanging. The pilot shut down the engine, autorotated and put the aircraft down on the water. He jettisoned the door, jumped clear and swam to shore. The helicopter sank inverted in the reservoir and was recovered the following day with significant damage. Investigated by CIAIAC as A-008/2025.
