Eurocopter AS 350B3 Ecureuil crash near Ben Bakhta, Corso, Boumerdès, Algeria

The Ecureuil was working under contract to the Algerian grid operator, cleaning insulators on high-voltage transmission lines, when it struck one of the cables and crashed near the cemetery at Ben Bakhta, Corso, around six kilometres south of Boumerdès. The pilot and a mechanic were killed at the scene; a third crew member was evacuated to hospital in serious condition. The helicopter was destroyed.
