Summary
The gyroplane was destroyed by an apparent in-flight structural failure shortly after takeoff from Potgietersrus Airport. The main rotor blade, serial number 1012, separated near the rotor hub bar, and the detached section was found about 205 ft south-east of the main wreckage. The pilot, alone on board, was killed. The failed blade section was recovered for analysis.
