Summary
The Mi-8MTV struck a tree and crashed in poor weather while flying from Luanda to Mussabo for a symbolic surrender of arms by UNITA rebels. Twenty of the 25 aboard were killed, among them Lieutenant-General José Domingues Ngueto, other senior army officers, two rebel officers and several journalists.
