Westland Puma HC.2 crash near Resolute Support HQ, Kabul, Kabul, Afghanistan

The Puma struck the cable of a tethered surveillance aerostat while landing at NATO's Resolute Support mission headquarters in Kabul, causing a tail rotor drive shaft failure. The aircraft was not fitted with a wire strike protection system. Two RAF servicemen, two US servicemen and a French civilian contractor were killed. The helicopter was operating on Operation Toral in support of the NATO train, advise and assist mission.
