Summary
A Westland Scout AH1 helicopter attempted to lift off from Turweston Aerodrome, Buckinghamshire. As the pilot tried to turn left, the helicopter rapidly rotated to the right. The pilot attempted to stop the spin but it had no effect. The helicopter rotors struck its own tail as it landed heavily. The AAIB investigation found no evidence of pre-existing technical faults or malfunctions.
