Robinson R22 Beta crash near Foppolo, Lombardy, Italy

Summary
The Robinson R22 Beta suffered an engine failure and came down in a ski slope area of Foppolo, in the Brembana Valley, close to the K2 Hotel, at around 16:40 on the afternoon of 24 August 2026. It came to rest partly in the water beside a small lake with the main rotor blades struck off and the airframe substantially damaged. On board were the pilot and the deputy mayor of Foppolo; both were injured. The helicopter, built in 1991 and previously registered 4X-BBX, belonged to Altitude Helicopters, a fleet operated by the alpinist and pilot Simone Moro. Firefighters attended the scene.
