Boeing AH-64 Apache crash near Salado, United States

Summary
A US Army AH-64 Apache attack helicopter based at Fort Hood crashed into a field off Dove Hollow Lane south of Salado, Bell County, Texas. Both crew members were pronounced dead at the scene around 2:30 p.m. local time. Bell County Sheriff spokesperson Bill Coleman said the helicopter did not hit any structures and described it as a "violent crash." The crash sparked a wildfire which was still burning out of control hours later. Brig. Gen. Ethan Diven, acting commanding general at Fort Hood, confirmed the aircraft was based at the installation. No cause or crew identities have been released.
