Boeing AH-6i crash near Najran, Saudi Arabia

fatal2026-10-182 fatalities
Summary

The reconnaissance helicopter was lost in the Najran region, inside Saudi territory, and both officers on board were killed. The spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, Major General Turki Al Maliki, said the aircraft was an AH-6i of the Ministry of the National Guard and attributed the loss to a technical malfunction. The Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree claimed that Houthi forces had shot down an Apache helicopter off Najran. The coalition denied it, and Al Maliki answered by posting a photograph of several Apaches on the ground. The two accounts also disagree on the type: the coalition identifies an AH-6i, the Houthi claim describes an Apache. The cause recorded here follows the coalition, which is the operator and the only party to have identified the aircraft, but the claim is unresolved. The aggregator gives the serial only as a partial, so no registration is recorded. The unit was the 2nd Saudi Arabian National Guard Aviation Brigade.
