Incident report
Airbus Helicopters H145 crash near Ras Tanajib, Saudi Arabia
minor2019-11-06
Summary
A Saudi Aramco Aviation Airbus Helicopters H145 (N376AH) experienced a collective bounce phenomenon during set down at Ras Tanajib offshore facility. The pilot rapidly lowered the collective to the full down position as the aircraft began to porpoise, coupled with excessive forward cyclic input. The Saudi AIB determined the causal factor was the pilot's decision-making during the porpoising, with a contributing factor being unfamiliarity with the proper corrective procedures for collective bounce. Saudi Aramco subsequently issued safety actions including initial and recurrent training updates, route checks, and safety reporting improvements.
