Summary
A Portuguese Air Force Alouette III flying from São Jacinto to army headquarters in Porto struck a power cable at Praia do Salgueiro, Canidelo, and crashed and burned. Three of the five on board were killed, among them the environment minister of São Tomé and Príncipe and the pilot. Brigadier António Pires Veloso and a corporal mechanic survived.
