Eurocopter EC135P2+ crash near Zoetermeer, Netherlands

A Dutch Police Eurocopter EC135P2+ (PH-PXE, manufactured 2009) experienced an artificial horizon display malfunction during an IFR flight at 3,000 feet from Rotterdam The Hague Airport to Schiphol in IMC. The helicopter entered an uncontrolled high-speed dive, emerging below cloud at approximately 450 feet just above buildings. The pilot steered out of the dive and returned to Rotterdam for a safe landing. A potentially catastrophic outcome was narrowly avoided.
