Incident report
Aerospatiale SA315B Lama crash near Vale de Cambra, Portugal
minor1992-08-17
Summary
A Lama fighting forest fires filled its water tank at Vila Cova de Perrinho, in a deep valley ringed by trees and rock. Lifting away, the pilot lost directional control and put the helicopter down on a pile of timber. Investigators found the hose and nozzle had caught in the barbed wire fence around the tank, and that the site was unsuitable for the operation given the surrounding obstacles.
