Eurocopter AS532 crash near Sirnak, Turkey

A Turkish Armed Forces Eurocopter AS532 Cougar helicopter crashed shortly after takeoff from a base in Sirnak Province near the Iraq border after hitting a high-voltage power line. All 13 soldiers on board were killed. The Turkish General Staff confirmed the crash was an accident. President Erdogan was briefed after chairing the National Security Council meeting. The Defence Minister and Interior Minister travelled to the scene.
