Westland Wasp HAS.1 crash near HMS Tiger, Far Eastern waters, Singapore
minor1977-09-29
Summary
The port undercarriage collapsed during a heavy landing on the deck of HMS Tiger, the aircraft having met a downdraught on approach. Neither of the two crew was hurt. The aggregator records the airframe as destroyed, but its own account has XT792 sent to Weston-super-Mare for repair, test flown under the Class B marking G-17-8, and sold to the Brazilian Navy as N-7041 in December 1978. It is recorded here as damaged rather than written off. The squadron was 829 Naval Air Squadron.
