IAR 330L Puma crash near near Gura Dobrogei, Romania

The helicopter, of Escadrila 572 Elicoptere, took off from the 57th Air Base sector at Mihail Kogălniceanu on a search and rescue mission for a MiG-21 LanceR C that had gone missing. It came down in a field near Gura Dobrogei after ice formed on the main rotor blades. All seven aboard were killed: five crew and two naval rescue workers who were not in the first notification. Airfield observations around the time reported light snow, mist and overcast at 900 to 1,200 feet with temperature 1C and dewpoint 0C. The MiG-21 pilot also died.
