Sikorsky SH-3H Sea King crash near Esperanza Base, Antarctica

Summary

The Sea King, flying from the icebreaker ARA Almirante Irízar, struck its tail against the helipad while about to land at Esperanza Base, damaging the tail boom and main rotor blades. All three aboard were unhurt. Parts from a sister aircraft were later airlifted from Comandante Espora naval air base so the helicopter could be ferried back to the ship.
