Eurocopter AS350B2 Ecureuil crash near Chatsworth, Los Angeles, California, United States

The AS 350 B2, flown by Angel City Air on an electronic news gathering flight, had been manoeuvring near the scene of a fatal road accident at Chatsworth for about 84 minutes, having left Whiteman Airport at 17:24. In the final minute, hovering at roughly 800 ft above ground level, the helicopter began a rapid descent while turning right. Video recorded by the reporter on board captured intermittent and then continuous horns over the last 29 seconds, consistent with main rotor high rpm, low rotor rpm and other aural advisories. The helicopter struck a metal storage container at high speed and a post impact fire destroyed the fuselage. The pilot and the reporter were killed, as was one person on the ground, and another person on the ground suffered minor injuries. The investigation continues.
