Eurocopter AS 350B3 Ecureuil crash near Sierra Norte de Guadalajara Natural Park, Castile-La Mancha, Spain

The Ecureuil was taking off after dropping a firefighting brigade on steep ground near a fire when it struck the aerial wire of an electrified fence. The investigation found the manoeuvre exceeded the limits of the area chosen for the operation; the tail rotor hit the fence wire and pulled out its ground support rod, which then struck the fuselage and main rotor. The pilot landed immediately on the road he had taken off from and was unhurt. The tail, main rotor and horizontal stabiliser were significantly damaged. Final report A-035/2022.
