Incident report
Magni M24C Orion crash near Bapsfontein Aerodrome, Gauteng, South Africa
minor2025-12-12
Summary
The pilot was returning to Bapsfontein after a local flight. During the landing roll on runway 02 a crosswind from the left pushed the gyroplane to the right. He applied left rudder and back pressure to absorb the rotor energy but lost control, and the gyroplane rolled right with the main rotor blades striking the ground. The pilot was not injured. The Civil Aviation Authority attributed it to a loss of directional control in crosswind conditions leading to a dynamic rollover, with lack of experience a contributing factor.
