Summary
A Republic of China (Taiwan) Air Force Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk crashed into the sea off Orchid Island (Lanyu) shortly after takeoff. The helicopter was on a routine transport mission. Six of eight on board were killed including Chief of the General Staff General Shen Yi-ming, the highest-ranking military officer killed in decades. The investigation found the helicopter flew into low cloud in mountainous terrain.
