Summary
A USMC Bell UH-1Y Venom (BuNo 168792) assigned to HMLA-469, callsign Vengeance 01, went missing during earthquake relief operations (Operation Sahayogi Haat). Wreckage found May 15 near Kalinchok, Dolakha district. All 13 on board killed: 8 US Marines, 2 Nepalese Army liaisons, and 3 injured Nepalese civilians being evacuated. The investigation found the crew chose a direct route over unfamiliar terrain with unstable weather, were enveloped by rapidly developing clouds, lost visual reference, and impacted the ground.
