Summary
Two Israeli Air Force CH-53 Yas'ur 2000 helicopters collided mid-air in darkness near She'ar Yashuv while ferrying troops to southern Lebanon. After the rotor of helicopter 357 struck its tail, helicopter 903 crew attempted to regain control but failed. It crashed in an open field near kibbutz Dafna, killing all 36 on board. The Ivry Commission found no definitive cause. The disaster killed 73 soldiers total and was the deadliest in Israeli military history.
