Summary

Two US Army HH-60 Black Hawk medevac helicopters from the 101st Airborne Division collided mid-air during a nighttime training exercise using night-vision goggles over Trigg County, Kentucky, about 30 miles northwest of Fort Campbell. This aircraft carried five soldiers, all killed. The collision occurred around 10 p.m. in an open field. The Army Combat Readiness Center confirmed the mid-air collision but the final cause determination remains pending. It was one of the deadliest US military training accidents in recent years.
