Summary
A Bell 214B helicopter leased by the Hellenic Fire Service crashed into the artificial Lake Aoos near Metsovo during a water-scooping operation for firefighting in the Grevena region. The tail section struck the lake surface causing the aircraft to lose stability and sink. Both crew members — a Greek national and an Australian co-pilot — escaped the cockpit and swam to shore. Both were taken to Ioannina University Hospital as a precaution and discharged in good health the same day.
