Eurocopter AS 350B2 Ecureuil crash near Eyjafjallajökull Glacier, Southern Region, Iceland

The pilot was attempting to land on the Eyjafjallajokull glacier when he suffered a height and depth perception illusion caused by the uniformly white surroundings. The helicopter struck the glacier and rolled onto its side. All rotor blades were broken or bent, the fuselage badly dented and the windows smashed. All four occupants escaped injury.
