Summary
En route from El Mirador to Flores, the crew felt a strong impact and saw a light in the helicopter — reported locally as a lightning strike. The emergency lights and alarms activated, the engine shut down and the pilot carried out an autorotation. A fire in the engine subsequently consumed the cabin section and main rotor. All seven on board were taken to hospital with various injuries. Investigated by UIA Guatemala as UIA-A-13-2023.
