Bell 206B JetRanger III crash near El Níspero, Escuintla, Guatemala
fatal2024-07-312 fatalities
Summary
The JetRanger left La Aurora International Airport for Ingenio Santa Ana and impacted terrain at El Níspero, Escuintla. Both occupants were killed and the aircraft destroyed. The investigation found the probable causes were the pilot's decision to continue toward the destination in degraded and adverse weather, and an erroneous perception of the helicopter's attitude caused by the conditions, producing conflict between visual, vestibular and proprioceptive senses and resulting in spatial disorientation. Classified as loss of control in flight. Final report UIA-A-11-2024.
