Bell 429 crash near Wiener Neustadt, Austria

A Goldeck-Flug Bell 429 GlobalRanger (OE-XCE) owned by Austrian billionaire Hans Peter Haselsteiner crashed and caught fire during an attempted landing at Wiener Neustadt/Ost Airport at 16:52 in fog. The pilot, the sole occupant, suffered fatal injuries. The flight originated in Bolzano, Italy. The UUS investigation found the pilot continued VFR flight into IMC conditions, became spatially disoriented, and had little experience with night landings and no instrument flight experience.
