Robinson R66 crash near Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

On November 22, 2013, about 1030 universal coordinated time (UTC), a Robinson R66 helicopter, Brazilian registration PR-MXM, while on approach to the Hotel Portobello Heliport (SIWS), Mangaratiba Municipality – State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, began to rotate around its vertical axis, lost altitude, and then impacted the waters of Mangaratiba Bay, and sank. The pilot was fatally injured. This investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Brazil.
