Bell 206B JetRanger III crash near Cubillo del César, Burgos, Castile and León, Spain

serious2020-06-25
Summary

The JetRanger had flown from Salas de los Infantes with a pilot and two specialist technicians for power line inspection work. After an hour and 48 minutes they diverted to previously identified unprepared ground at Cubillo del César to refuel and continue. According to the pilot, during the approach there was a loss of main rotor effectiveness which left the helicopter very low with a high rate of descent, and it struck the terrain. All three were unhurt and left unaided. The rear fuselage, the underside of the vertical stabiliser, the tail rotor and the skids were damaged. Final report A-020/2020.
