Summary

Flying back toward an area of assumed better visual conditions, the pilot was probably affected by spatial disorientation and unknowingly lowered the nose. The helicopter struck the sea at forward speed on a descent angle of around 45 degrees, killing all four on board. The accident happened in daylight in marginal visual conditions.
