Incident report
Bell 206B-3 JetRanger III crash near Tiquisate, Escuintla, Guatemala
fatal2021-05-014 fatalities
Summary
The JetRanger was flying from Finca El Baluarte at Chicacao, Suchitepéquez, to La Aurora International Airport when it struck a farm field at Tiquisate and was destroyed. Four of the five people on board were fatally injured. The investigation found the probable causes were a lack of appreciation in deciding to take off in adverse weather and wind conditions that made a safe flight impossible, and that cockpit resource management may have been affected by the passenger in the co-pilot seat, whose orientation, memory, understanding, attention and language were uncoordinated when attempting to assist the pilot. Classified as controlled flight into terrain. Final report UIA-A-07-2021.
