Summary
The LongRanger was carrying the Guatemalan Minister of Energy and Mines and electrical sector executives to the hamlet of Chiquihuites, Chancol, to inaugurate a rural electrification project. The flight left Guatemala City at 08:00 with an intermediate stop at the new Todos Santos substation. On approach at around 10:30 the pilot lost control at low speed and low altitude, striking the ground at the north end of a football field. The main rotor fragmented and separated from its base, the tail boom and tail rotor fractured, and the engine and flight control system were damaged. All five on board were unharmed.
