Aerospatiale SE 3160 Alouette III crash near Ankazomiriotra, Vakinankaratra, Madagascar

The helicopter was destroyed at Ankazomiriotra and all on board were killed, among them Colonel Joel Rakotomalala, the prime minister of Madagascar, who had held office for little over a month. No cause was published. Note a discrepancy in the source: it records five occupants and five deaths, but lists seven distinct names, one of which appears twice with the forename and surname reversed. The figures here follow the occupant count rather than the name list.
