Summary
The tail boom failed on the ground as the aircraft turned during taxi, before an offshore flight. The incident prompted AgustaWestland to issue an alert service bulletin setting out one-off and then repetitive inspections of the AW139's composite nomex honeycomb tail boom. An aluminium honeycomb tail boom was subsequently introduced.
