Kamov Ka-32A crash near near Ostrov, Tulcea County, Romania

The helicopter was flying second in a formation of two from Chișinău towards Tekirdağ Çorlu, with a refuelling stop planned at Constanța. About 75 minutes after departure it tried to tell the lead helicopter it was making an emergency landing, but only part of the message was received and later calls went unanswered. The lead turned back and found it burning on the ground. The probable cause was that the crew could not control the aircraft during the emergency landing because essential elements of the main gearbox failed in flight. All five aboard were killed.
