Agusta A109E crash near Ras Tanajib, Saudi Arabia

A Saudi Aramco Aviation Agusta A109E Power (N906AH, manufactured 2005) sustained substantial damage during landing on barge Arabiya 4 in the Persian Gulf near Ras Tanajib. After touchdown, the helicopter began to shake, the main rotor contacted the tail boom and cabin, and a fire erupted. The pilot secured the engines and stopped the rotor with the rotor brake. All five occupants exited uninjured and barge personnel extinguished the fire. VMC prevailed.
