Summary
A Robinson R44 Raven I (C-GKVH, manufactured 2008) commercially registered to Veezee Aviation was on a day VFR flight from Fredericton International Airport to Sussex Airport, New Brunswick, with a solo student pilot on board. The student was planning to conduct practice circuits and hovering at Sussex before picking up a flight instructor. During the flight, the helicopter disappeared from radar approximately 35nm ESE of Fredericton at 15:22 ADT. A ground and air search located the accident site approximately 12 hours later in a remote, heavily wooded area northwest of Sussex Airport. The student pilot was fatally injured. Initial wreckage examination indicates the helicopter experienced an in-flight break-up. The TSB is investigating.
