fatal2011-07-293 fatalities
Summary
The helicopter left the operator's helipad at Maryland, Lagos at 09:25 for Ilorin and struck high ground at Oke Oba hill in Ikonifin, about ten kilometres west of Ife Odan on the range between Ife Odan and Ogbomosho. All three on board were killed: the chief executive of Bacita Sugar Company, Josephine Oluwadamilola Kuteyi, her personal assistant Adedoyin Ogunbanjo, and the Filipino pilot. The causal factor was the pilot's failure to remain clear of cloud and obstacles with ground contact as visual flight rules require. He was not instrument rated and was unfamiliar with the route.
