Mil Mi-24 crash near Mount Kenya, Kenya

Summary
One of three Uganda Peoples Defence Force Mil Mi-24 helicopters en route from Soroti, Uganda to Garissa, Kenya crashed on Mount Kenya at night and was totally destroyed by fire. All seven on board were killed. The wreckage was found on August 14 by rescue teams. Bodies were recovered over the following days in the rugged terrain. President Kibaki mourned the victims. The helicopters were being deployed to support AMISOM operations in Somalia.
