Eurocopter AS350B3 crash near Chepkiep, Kenya

A Youth Aviation Limited Eurocopter AS350B3 (5Y-DSB, manufactured 2011, 5,041 hours) crashed in Chepkiep, Mosop, Nandi County. All six on board were killed and the helicopter was destroyed by fire. The helicopter had completed several uneventful flights that day. On the final leg from Endebess to Emurua Dikirr, the pilot landed in an open field at Tabolwa due to reduced visibility. After five minutes on the ground with the engine running, the pilot took off amid thick fog, drizzle, and low cloud. One minute later the helicopter collided with terrain on a forested ridge approximately 200m from the takeoff point.
