Eurocopter EC130B4 crash near Lake Logipi, Kenya

A Lady Lori Helicopters Eurocopter EC130B4 (5Y-RWR, manufactured 2009) was operating a sightseeing flight from Loisaba Lodge over the Suguta Valley. While flying low at approximately 40 knots over the glassy surface of Lake Logipi, a flock of pelicans rose up. The pilot attempted to avoid the birds but suffered a bird strike and lost depth perception over the reflective water. The helicopter impacted the lake and came to rest on its side in shallow water. All four occupants escaped without serious injury.
