Mil Mi-24 crash near Mount Kenya, Kenya

Summary
One of three Uganda Peoples Defence Force Mil Mi-24 helicopters en route from Soroti, Uganda to Garissa, Kenya to reinforce AMISOM forces in Somalia made an emergency landing on the slopes of Mount Kenya at night. Eight crew members survived, trekking five miles through dense forest before being rescued by Tropic Air pilot Ben Simpson. The helicopter was badly damaged with propeller shafts gone but the engine remained intact.
